Isaiah 40:31 — December 29, 2014

Isaiah 40:31

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

I also hope that you enjoyed my advent drawings for the days leading up to Christmas. I am going to try to put all of them together into some form of poster or book and don’t worry, I don’t think my granny will let me forget about it. Making myself sit down and draw everyday has really gotten me into a good habit. So much so that I have really missed drawing for the past 3 days! Today I sat down and designed my baby’s first birthday party invitation, and then I put this together. The verse is the YouVersion Bible App verse of the day.

Advent Day 25: Christ is Born

advent25
Luke 2:8-11 NIV

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.

Merry Christmas!

Advent Day 18: God’s Protection of Daniel

Daniel 6: Daniel is thrown into the lion’s den because he continued to pray to God after being persecuted by Darius. Daniel continued praying, and God sent His angel to shut the mouths of the lions and protect him. This is an awesome example of God’s protection of His people!

My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight.

Advent Day 17: Elijah & the Threat of False Gods — December 17, 2014

Advent Day 17: Elijah & the Threat of False Gods

1 Kings 19 tells about how the Israelites, once again, had turned their backs on God (how many times are they going to do this?! It just goes to show how forgiving God really is). They had listened to King Ahab and his evil wife Jezebel and had constructed altars to the false god, Baal. God then sent a prophet named Elijah to declare that God would send a drought in the land. The drought came and the people suffered. Elijah then challenged the false prophets to prepare a bull to be sacrificed on an altar for Baal, but they must call on Baal to send fire. Well guess what…nothing happened. Then Elijah said he’d do the same thing but call on Big “G” God to send fire. He made it more exciting by telling the people to pour water all over it, which would prove to be even harder to light on fire. Well guess what then…God sent fire! What’s cool about this is the Bible calls it “fire from heaven” which can be interpreted as lightning. Miraculous lightning, since there was not a cloud in the sky. It even burned up the water that was poured all over it. And then, the people fell on their faces and worshiped God.

Anyway, I thought this story was so awesome and telling of God’s power. And I must warn you, the picture I drew today is a pretty crazy interpretation of what happened. I’m going to call it a loose interpretation…it may only make sense to me. I don’t really know what I was thinking…there’s water that’s turned to fire and the lightning is what’s causing it. I think I may have been sleepy. Hey, they can’t all be hits! Maybe next time.
